Laser resurfacing of the face is the procedure by which all other resurfacing procedures should be judged. Damage to the skin can result from aging, hereditary factors, smoking and the sun. A carbon dioxide laser is used to improve the appearance of facial wrinkles, removing the damaged skin layer by layer. The most common areas of concern are the fine lines around the mouth and eyes, although the entire face can be treated. Pigment changes of the skin and acne scarring can also be improved with laser resurfacing.
