Dr. Smotrich has practiced plastic surgery since 1989 and has been picked by Castle Connolly as one of the top doctors in the New York metropolitan area. In 1996 Dr. Smotrich opened Mercer County's first accredited office-based plastic surgery facility.

Dr. Smotrich is an honors graduate of Cornell University and received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut. He completed a residency in General Surgery at Boston University and a residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Louisville. He took fellowship training at the world-famous Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville. Dr. Smotrich is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and is active on a national level for both organizations. He has also held leadership positions for the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons.
