PUT SOME SPRING IN YOUR SKIN

Let your skin reflect your cheerier mood as the weather warms up. The change from winter to spring also means it is time to change your skin care regimen. As the mercury rises, you may start to notice more of an oily feeling throughout the

day. You need to start using a lighter weight moisturizer instead of the heavier ones you were using to battle the dry, cold conditions of winter.

Along with spring cleaning in your house, consider spring cleaning your cosmetics counter or shelf. Skin care products do not last forever, and you’ll get better results with newer products compared to ones that have been sitting around from last year. The air around us in springtime can hold more moisture, so you don’t want the heavier foundations you were using in the winter. A light weight foundation with an SPF of at least 15 is needed, because the sun doesn’t wait until summer to burn your skin.

Spring to a time to start feeling better about yourself, and that includes your skin. With a little help from the skin care specialists at Lawrenceville Plastic Surgery, you and your skin will be ready for the longer, warmer days ahead.

PIXEL PERFECT

The Pixel CO2 laser is now available at Lawrenceville Plastic Surgery.  It is a fractionated CO2  skin resurfacing system that delivers the proven effectiveness of CO2  treatments without the discomfort and prolonged downtime.  The CO2  laser has always been considered the gold standard in skin resurfacing, but the prolonged healing time, redness and side effects led to a decline in its popularity.

The Pixel CO2 laser beam is split into many small pixels, creating tiny thermal channels without disturbing the surrounding tissue.  With only about 20% of the treated skin actually ablated, the healing process is much quicker.  The healing reaction stimulates growth of new collagen, and the redness disappears much more quickly.  After several weeks of collagen regrowth, the skin is plumper and wrinkles have faded significantly.

With a faster recovery time, you’ll have younger, smoother and healthier skin, with minimal interruption to your daily routine.  In addition to wrinkles, the Pixel CO2 can also treat acne scarring.  Finally, the Pixel CO2 can complement many facial cosmetic surgical procedures, and all of this would be discussed in your consultation with Dr. Smotrich .

GET A "WOW" FROM YOUR BROW

HAVE THE COSMETIC PROCEDURE YOU WANT... TODAY!

The periorbital area probably has the greatest impact on a youthful appearance, and there are many surgical options with periorbital rejuvenation.  Some patients can have a significant improvement with skin removal alone from the upper eyelids, but there is often a descent of the eyebrows as we age.  Look at any photograph of model on a magazine cover, and the common denominator is an upswept tilt of the eyebrow going from the

middle of the brow outward.  Makeup and eyebrow hair removal can provide some nonsurgical sleight of hand, but changing the eyebrow shape surgically is a more long-term solution.

Many of the traditional techniques involved a lengthy scar through the scalp.  This led to the development of endoscopic procedures done through small incisions, but the results been disappointing due to difficulty in fixating the brow.

Dr. Smotrich employs a relatively new technique called the Modified Lateral Brow Lift, which focuses on changing the eyebrow shape rather than simply elevating the brow.  The technique borrows features from both the traditional open coronal brow lift and the endoscopic techniques.  This procedure, in addition to all of your other options for facial rejuvenation, will be discussed in your consultation with Dr. Smotrich at Lawrenceville Plastic Surgery.
